Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success. – Brian Adams
Over the years I have come to realize that my time is not the only time out there. That other people, things and situations have their own divine timing. I have a few clients that I am working with that are trying to conceive a child, they have been trying or a while and the more they try the more frustrated and stressed they get. Just because they are ready doesn’t mean that that child is ready to be born yet. Children have their own divine timing for when they are ready to come into the world and be born. I always guide my clients to do something else in the meantime while they are waiting like working on themselves or their relationship, getting more settled in their lives or in their home or preparing their body, mind and spirit for parenthood.
I have a friend who is ready to be in a serious relationship but the woman he is seeing isn’t there yet. Again everyone has their own pace and timing. I love this quote by Edmund Burk “ Our Patience will achieve more than our force “. I know people (myself included) who have tried to make people be on their timing. When you can simply allow others to be where they are at and trust that all in unfolding as it should at exactly the right speed and pace your life will begin to flow organically. I recently was working with this healer who told me that I needed to work on patience. She told me that even though I have the gift of being able to see the future I still needed to be here in the present to get the important steps as well as develop the foundation that I needed for taking me to and supporting my future. When something we are working towards or hoping for hasn’t happened yet there is always a reason and work to be done somewhere.
Patience is the companion of wisdom – Saint Augustine
A friend of mine was in between jobs and getting offers but not exactly the ideal situation that she was trying to manifest. In this space she used this time to gain clarity on what she really wanted for a job, she rested and nurtured herself because the last job she had was incredibly stressful and depleting, she began to contemplate her life and the way she was living and started to take a deep look into her relationships, she then started to clean out, make space so she could have room for the new to come. Well let me tell you the new came in and it came in bigger and better then she ever thought possible. She manifested her dream job and the most amazing man and incredible relationship as well as a whole new group of wonderful friends and a fabulous lifestyle. See instead of her trying to force something to happen or take a job or get into a relationship out of fear she was patient and used that time to do the work.
There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient. “ – Swami Sivananda
I LOVE the above quote and its something I believe so much in!!! When something we are hoping for doesn’t happen or work out there is always a reason why. I believe its something you needed to experience to help get you to where you are meant to be going. We don’t always know why this has happened to us but in time it will always be revealed. We just need to have patients and trust. I once worked with a client who for years tried to have a baby, after many failed IVF treatments she got an egg donor and a surrogate. It took a few tries before the surrogate finally became pregnant. During this time I worked with her to help her heal the grief of not being able to conceive a child of her own and worked on clearing all the feelings that came along with that. She needed this time to heal and clear so she could completely embrace, love and bond with this child. To this day she is one of the best and most loving mothers I know.
The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it” – Arnold H. Glasgow
A friend of mine always uses the phrase – “ They just aren’t wired the way you are “. How many times have you lost your patients because your child, co- worker, friend, partner, student, boss or parent doesn’t understand or get what you are taking about or doing? Not everyone thinks or acts the way you do. People process things at their own pace, time and way. When you feel yourself getting frustrated, stop and take a deep breath then see if you can put yourselves in their shoes then try to explain in a way they will be able to hear and understand you.
“ Don’t push the river, it flows by itself.”- Collective wisdom
The other day I was feeling really frustrated by something that was happening in my life. I was 3 seconds away from having freak out on someone when I decided to stop and call my mother. My mom told me a story about a time in her life when she was having a hard time and went to see this woman who had given her some great advise that to this day she still practices. She said to my mom – “ Joy, can you just do nothing? Not react, not run or shut down but just be and allow. That’s what I did, nothing. I sat with my frustration and the fear that was under it. I didn’t push, run or project any of this onto someone else. And with this I saw by the other person triggering me to loose my patience had nothing to do with them it was all my stuff that I needed to work on and clear.
