This morning was one of those days !! I woke up at 7am, rolled over and looked at my iPhone , there was already messages from 20 people asking me for something( not the mention the other random 75 emails) Some of them texted , called, emailed , face booked and one person even rang my door bell . I was so busy answering all the questions that I ended up missing my workout class at the gym this am.
This past week was a really busy one , when I have those kinds of weeks ( well, even if I don’t) I always take a day or a half of day where I unplug from the world and recharge . I turn of my phone , iPad , computer sometimes I read , watch a movie , cook, go for a walk with my dogs , take a bath , nap , do yoga at my house , clean , draw , write or journal . I can’t begin to tell you how important this is . If you don’t realize how addicted we all are to our phones , computers and social media try unplugging for just 1 hour . Sit back and be the detached observer to yourself and notice what comes up for you when you shut off the world for a bit. When we are always plugged in we are always on call and expected to be on . Thats a lot of energy constantly going out . Not to mention our brains are going 90 miles an hour focusing on 20 things . When you unplug you allow yourself to just be . Your mind can relax and you start grounding yourself and become more present . This can be challenging for those who are running from their lives or selves … To actually sit and be alone with yourself , with out distractions .. again a great time to notice what comes up for you , journal about it and what you don’t want to feel or have been doing to avoid feeling.
In my practice I highly recommend to all my clients with children that they pick a day or half a day to unplug / turn off and just be together as a family . God knows children grow up so fast this is a great way to stay connected and present .
