For anyone try to get pregnant or that already is please watch this VERY important video

Dr Alan Greene talks about the importance of waiting 90 seconds before clamping the umbilical cord following the birth of your baby … Interesting info !!

I Asked Dr Greene This Question –

If you wait the 90 secs for the cord to stop clamping can you still bank the cord blood .. Being a doula its a question I get asked a lot .. The doctors tell me you can do one or the other .. whats your take ??

Dr Greene’s Answer –

I had a long talk with the folks at Cord Blood Registry (CBR) about this. They said that there are plenty of stem cells left for banking BUT after the cord stops pulsing the blood can begin to clot quickly, interfering with collection – so they prefer when the pulsing slows and begins to stop rather than all the way stopping. It’s easier for then if clamping is immediate, but they can wait. We all agreed this treasure doesn’t belong in the trash.

*So if you are planning on banking your baby’s cord blood a bit of pulsing before clamping the cord is better  for your baby then clamping immediately .

I am a HUGE fan of  Dr Alan Greene – His amazing books -” Raising Baby Green” and “Feeding Baby Green” are 2 of my all time favorite books to refer to my clients …
