New baby releases pheromones – Helps the bonding process ( pets and siblings )

I was helping a doula client with her labor the other day at Cedar Sinai Hospital . It was a beautiful day and luck was on our side as we had the most wonderful labor and delivery nurse named Belinda Luther .

Belinda shared this interesting info with us and I wanted to share it with you all . Also If anyone is having a baby at Cedars (La, Ca ) Ask for her ! She was so helpful , nurturing  and very supportive.

When A baby is born and through the first few weeks of their life , a new baby  releases pheromones from the top of their head  that helps with the bonding process . This is especially helpful for the bonding of siblings and pets . So let your children hold the baby , have them smell and kiss the baby’s head also don’t be afraid to let your pets sniff away .  Have someone bring home the hat that the baby first wears . Give it to your pets to sniff before bringing your new baby home so they will  already be familiar with and  liking the scent .
